Since you own both, I am betting that both work well for you. I was wondering about your perspective on this. Apparently the difference in handle materials was enough to screw up the feel and balance for me. For instance, I found the Master's to be lively and have good balance, but the Journeyman was just dead in my hand. How do you like the Journeyman? I find that, even more so than most knives, balance and feel in regard to karambits are very personal things. I do have one that is about ready to be posted that was done with the old software, so that one will not show the increase, but the ones that follow should. Since I picked up a new computer and vastly better video software, the quality of my videos should really go up soon.

As for the questions-feel free to PM me or send me an email. I call them the Karambits of Night and Day (all the David Gemmell fans will get the pun). You will find that the Emerson Fixed Blade is very nice-that's why I have a satin finish and a black finish one. )ĪJ, you forgot the Fixed Blade-it is also a true karambit (curved and capable of being used in the controlling and trapping, hooking motions, and other moves for which the karambit is known). I also do a lot of trapping, controls, and takedowns with the blades (though I use trainers for that part-otherwise it is so hard to find willing victims errrr training partners :D. Ousanas, I do quite a bit of extension, retraction, and spinning due to the way that a karambit is used in Albo Kali Silat ( ). If you pick a Strider up and love the feel and balance, then I am sure you will be very happy with it. As I said earlier, I think the balance and feel of a karambit, in particular, are very personal things, even more so than most knives. I am not knocking the knives, they just aren't my favorite. In any case, for me, I find that the Strider is not the best for my particular style of use. The arts I studied taught differently, which is not surprising considering the hundreds of styles of silat and kali out there. One of the reasons may be that Steve Tarani doesn't believe in much point work with the karambit or in the utility of the spin. They just don't work as well for me as do Emersons or some others. They are sturdy knives, well constructed, well designed.
